Running a rental fleet in Jakarta
Much of the rental market in Jakarta is long: a company takes a car for a month and keeps renewing it. That behaves nothing like a daily rental.
Paperwork that expires
Your phone reminds you a week before each one expires, and the Today screen lists anything expiring in the next 30 days.
| What it is called here | Record it in DriveFlow as |
|---|---|
| STNK (registration certificate) | Registration |
| Pajak kendaraan (vehicle tax) | Road tax |
| Asuransi | Insurance |
Cars operators here run
Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia, Toyota Innova. These are in the model list.
Not in the list yet, and you can add them: Honda Brio.
What tends to go wrong here
- One long booking, paid in pieces
- A monthly rental to a company is one booking with payments landing in stages. Record each payment as it arrives, and Owed to me shows what is left, oldest debt first, with a Remind button that opens WhatsApp.
- Tax and STNK dates
- Vehicle tax falls due every year, and the STNK itself is renewed every five years.
- Rental with a driver
- Renting a car with a driver is common here. DriveFlow records a car, a renter and the dates. It has no place for the driver or their pay.
Ways of renting that fit here
- Monthly and corporate rentals: For cars rented to companies by the month, with payments that arrive in stages.
- Renting to ride-hailing drivers: If you rent weekly to drivers, many small balances need one sorted list.
